Sheena J. Lindsey
  • Junior in the College of Arts and Science, majoring in Literature
  • Originally from Washington, D.C. and love the city more than anything else
  • Love writing poetry and song lyrics, and have a great passion for music
  • Love to volunteer at a D.C. recreation center close to home working with children and teenagers
  • Currently a dance teacher and assistant to the director at Shining Starz Dance Troupe
  • Started attending Shining Starz in 2001
  • Future aspirations:  hope to work in the music industry where she can incorporate her love for music as well as her love for writing
  • Favorite inspiring quote by her favorite writer Langston Hughe-  "Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly."

Sarah Boison
  • Born February 13, 1988 in Cheverly, Maryland
  • Attended Pointer Ridge Elementary School in Bowie, Maryland
  • Graduated from Bowie High School in May 2006
  • Currently a junior at American University majoring in Public Communication with a minor in Marketing
  • Earned the opportunity to be in the STEP 2006 class
  • Participated in Leaders Who Inspire and Foster Positive Transitions (L.I.F.T.) as a mentee her freshmen year
  • An active member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars
  • A member of the AU Chapter of the NAACP
  • Since freshmen year, actively involved in clubs/organizations such as Gospel Choir, AU In Motion, AM Word (A student-run magazine) and Black Student Alliance
  • Earned the opportunity to intern for the AU club/non-profit Facilitating Leadership In Youth (F.L.Y.) which reaches out to youth living in the Southeast D.C. area.
  • Hobbies include writing, advertising/promotions, hanging out with friends, and listening to music

Gabrielle Kuey
  • A young female with determination, who speaks her mind and is always up for a challenge
  • Born April 13, 1988 in New York
  • Attends American University majoring in Business and communication
  • Expected graduation 2010
  • A big athlete-  plays on AU softball team and also loves to play tennis, golf and basketball
  • Greatest experience in life was during the summer of 2007 when she Interned for Woman Organized Around Wellness, were she worked to lower health disparities among women of color in the Northern Westchester area in New York. Here she learned what hard work was all about, and felt the greatest since of pride.
  • Loves to sing and is apart of a Gospel Choir
  • Prides herself on being a person that one can always come to- a young women with a kind heart
  • Favorite inspiring quote- “Each person comes into this world with a specific destiny—he/she has something to fulfill, some message has to be delivered, some work has to be completed. You are not here accidentally--you are here meaningfully. There is a purpose behind you. The whole intends to do something through you.”
