During
the months of Spring, Lambda
Zeta is principally committed to serving So Others Might
Eat
(S.O.M.E.), an
interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor
and
homeless
of our nation's capital.
Holiday Card Making for Senior Citizens
During
the month of January, Lambda
Zeta and the community creates Valentine's Day cards for Senior
Citizens who reside at the Christian Communities Group Homes in
Washington D.C.
Sandwich Making
During
the month of February, Lambda
Zeta and the community prepares over 100 peanut butter and
jelly sandwiches to donate to the Bethany's Woman's Shelter in
Washington D.C.
MLK Day
During
the month of February, Lambda Zeta recognizes
Dr. King's birthday " as a day on and not a day off."
So this chapter acknowledges MLK Day by
participating in activities with Xi Omega, LZ’s graduate chapter.

Pink Ice/Spa
Night (Signature Program)
During
the month of September, Lambda
Zeta conducted Pink Ice/Spa Night. Enlisting
the services of
a masseuse and
several independent Mary Kay onsultants, Lambda Zeta was able to create
a
relaxing
spa-like environment where AU women received facials, massages
and
pedicures.
Sandwich Making
During
the month of October, Lambda
Zeta and the community prepares over 100 peanut butter and
jelly sandwiches to donate to the Bethany's Woman's Shelter in
Washington D.C.
AIDS Walkathon
During
the month of October, Lambda
Zeta participates
in the
walk braving the weather to show
support
for those battling HIV/AIDS.
Behind Closed
Doors: A Forum on AIDS in the Black Community
During
the month of November, Lambda Zeta
sponsores “Behind Closed Doors”
a forum on the
effects of HIV/AIDS in the African American community and the
role that “down low” men play in
transmitting this deadly disease. A
representative from the Whitman Walker
Clinic normally attends to
facilitate the forum and to share information about safe
sex
practices.
Help the
Homeless Walkathon
During
the month of November, Lambda Zeta participates in
the Help the
Homeless Walkathon and
designated S.O.M.E. as its beneficiary organization.
